Harvesting Chilli Seeds

I’m not sure if this is something that needs to be explained and I’m sure everyone has got their own way of extracting Chilli seeds. Anyway this is how I do it and I seem to have a very good strike rate at harvesting good quality chilli seeds.

First you need to make sure that when you pick your chilli pod from you plan that it is slightly over ripe. Look at the stem where the chilli is attached to your plant, once you see that the stem is starting to change colour it means that the plant has finished supplying nutrients to that pod. You can wait a bit longer if you wish but you then run the risk of pests attacking your pod.

Wilting Chillies

Concerned about wilting chillies? Are you giving your chillies enough water? How often should you water your chillies? What causes chili plants to suddenly wilt? These are some of the questions I’ll attempt to answer in this post.

Occasionally, chillies wilt because they’re baking in the hot sun. If you’re watering your plants sufficiently, the cause is likely fungal wilt. Wilting Chillies can be caused by either fusarium or verticillium wilt, but the two cause such similar symptoms that distinguishing between them often requires a laboratory evaluation.

Carolina Chocolate

Well yesterday was our first outing selling chilli chocolate. We went to the Jimboomba markets and set up a small temporary site. So how did we go? It was fun watching the reaction of people as they sampled some of our chilli chocolate. See the stuff you buy at Coles or Woollies is not really chilli chocolate. Honestly I have tried most of the commercially produced chilli chocolate and struggle to detect any heat in them. Ours on the other hand has got chilli in it and not just any random chilli we use the Carolina Reaper so you don’t need to put heaps in to achieve a nice burn.
